On Thursday, August 29, 2013, the USC Institute for Genetic Medicine Art Gallery organized, in collaboration with the Institute for Integrative Health, an exciting Panel Discussion entitled Intention & Prevention.   Moderator, Dr. Rishi Manchanda, President and Founder of HealthBegins, a startup that provides training and tools to help clinics address patients’ social needs and community factors that drive disease, led the discussion focused themes from his recently released TED book, The Upstream Doctors: Medical Innovators Track Sickness to its Source.  Director of the USC Institute for Integrative Health, Dr. Marc Weigensberg discussed with Founder, CEO and President of Murad, Inc., Dr. Howard Murad, ways in which to integrate prevention and healing practices into traditional medical practice for a smooth paradigm shift.  How the shift  from treating the unintended consequences of stagnated policy procedures was a key question in the discussion.  Informing, engaging and empowering mindful stewardship of self, others and the planet;  bringing innovation and life affirmative practice back to clinical practice and medical research were among the suggested approaches.
