Arts+ Health Month Kick Off: Community Leaders Concert and Exhibit Preview

 Arts + Health Month is an opportunity for organizations and individuals worldwide to promote the integration of the arts—including literary, performing, and visual arts and design—into a wide variety of healthcare and community settings for therapeutic, educational, and expressive purposes. artAngels.org collaborated with our partners at the USC Institute for Genetic Medicine Art Gallery and the USC Keck School of Medicine Department of Medicine to celebrate Art+Health Month with their colleagues in the Global Alliance for Arts and Health.

Founded by the Society for the Arts in Healthcare, Arts + Health Month is a time to host awareness-raising events and heighten media attention for our field.  Our goal was to share these events, express ideas, and connect with new audiences and colleagues from around the globe.

We celebrated the positive impact the arts have on the healthcare experience. We raised awareness about how the arts improve patient outcomes; create safer, more supportive healthcare environments; offer caregivers an opportunity for creativity and self-expression; and benefit communities by engaging people in arts programs aimed at prevention and wellness. We joined with the Global Alliance for Arts and Health to use our collective voice to advance Arts + Health and show the world the benefits of approaching health creatively.
