USC Price School Mentor/Mentee Mixer Monday, February 11th

February 11, 2013

USC Price School Mentor/Mentee Mixers facilitate cross generational information and resources sharing.  This photo demonstrates Sol Price MPA candidate and USC IGM AG Mentee, Lisa Goldstein, being introduced by Price School Alum and Mentor, USC IGM Art Gallery Adviser, Robert Donin, to international environmental energy entrepreneur, BK Rao, Chairman of Island Energy International, Inc., and Muriel Wood, CEO of Island Energy Great Lakes, Inc.   Rao and Wood are Steering Committee Co-Chairs for the IGM Art Gallery’s Annual Global Development Earth Day Forum at the IGM Art Gallery on Monday, April 22, 2013, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Price School Networking Nights bring together students and professionals to share their knowledge and experiences with one another.  Public, Private and Non-profit leaders are especially well qualified to help students understand the latest trends within the industries and sectors associated with community capacity building.  Students benefit greatly from the guidance and experience based on real life career development, wisdom and experience opportunities the mentors provide.

IGM Art Gallery Advisory Council Members provide internship and fellowship opportunities for under graduate and graduate students primarily inside the Art Gallery, but often in Los Angeles High Schools, in nonprofit and faith-based organizations as well as in corporate and public sector offices. The Gallery programs and projects offer students opportunities to plan, implement, document, evaluate and generate strategies for innovation, refinement, replication and expansion of the Gallery’s projects and programs.  Developing cross organizational/cross departmental relationships for the Gallery and building community capacity are key tasks of the interns and young professionals. The Gallery’s Internship Program and Young Professionals Committee provide peer mentorship while the Advisory Council and Volunteer Staff continue to improve the organizational infrastructure and communication system to ensure smooth transition from the university into jobs, fellowships and career paths.  In some cases this is the first opportunity these young people have to develop budgets, write invoices, and carry out, responsibly, the many roles from envisioning to evaluating, developing and sustaining the outcomes of their efforts.
